Rick and Morty quilt block

This block took roughly ten hours to sew together.  I really like the portal fabric.  Now to figure out what other Rick and Morty block I want to make for the quilt.  Thinking of a few of the characters.  Keep checking back for updates on the other blocks I do.

Published patterns

My first and only two patterns so far that have been published in a quilt magazine.  The Tori Gate one was published in the May 2016 issue.http://www.quiltpatternmagazine.com/pastissues/pdf/preview/2016/preview2016-05.pdf

The Howling Wolf was published in the Feb 2016 issue.

Inspiration.

I started to make my own patterns after being inspired by Fandom in Stitches website.  They have tons of awesome patterns and a very helpful community.
I can spend hours looking on the website and the patterns range from easy to difficult.

Here is a link to my flicker page with a lot of projects  I have been working on .

Rick and Morty Quilt

My boys love Rick and Morty and I decided to make them one.  Here is the block I  am working on and the progress so far.  I made the pattern using the free software Quilt assist.  I can't wait to see this block finished.

Halloween wall hanging quilt

While being stationed in Japan, I worked with this Lady named Ms. George who was always talking about quilting, fabric and sewing.  I have to give her credit for getting my interest peeked into sewing again.   She brought back some fabric from her summer back in the states and we spend an afternoon cutting them in the strips the pattern Boo!-ti-ful called for.   I went home excited to start on it.

The quilt that started it all.

This is the quilt that started it all.   During one summer in the 80's as a child, my grandmother decided to teach each of us five grandchildren to sew.  We each got to pick our fabric from the scrap pile and she taught us how to make a quilt.   It is by far from perfect and lots of mistakes but I have to say it is one of my favorites because of the memories it brings back.  Little did I know during that one summer that years later I would really pick up this hobby and create many pieces of artwork from sewing.
